Jamin's Story

Jamin Flohr is a Las Vegas based sculpture artist, with a passion for exploring the deeper meaning behind the struggles of the human experience. His artwork challenges the viewer with questions that cause them to reflect on their own unique experience: “What motivates true change? What takes a person from hopeless, to discovering the unique, lifelong purpose they dream of? What provides us with meaning and fulfillment in our lives?” He strives to impact the viewer through not only creative visual metaphors, but also through his unique aesthetic style, conveying a vision that causes the viewer to look inward to see themselves and the world through a different lens.

Jamin grew up in California in a family of 7 kids. They moved frequently throughout his childhood, and in response he always seemed to feel out of place. His family always had a creative bent, so when Jamin found art he found not only a form of self-expression, but a sense of unique identity. From the time he was young he always was fascinated with the great artists he saw who could take an empty page and create something beautiful almost out of nothing. Very soon he started to study the artists he admired, drawing almost impulsively day after day, and modeled after them as he taught himself to become a proficient sketch artist. From the time he was a teenager all he could dream of was one day making a career out of this gift of creation he was given, but always wondered how he would make it work.

Through circumstance and some hardship, Jamin found himself in Las Vegas at 19 years old, looking to make a start for himself where he could put his hard-earned artistic skills to use. He found himself in a moment of being at the right place at the right time, where a company that built large scale sculptures needed someone to pick up trash and sweep floors. Jamin knew this was his opportunity, so he jumped at it. Starting from scratch with no technical or fabrication skills at the beginning, Jamin learned everything and anything he could to take his craft to higher levels. After about 4 years he decided he wanted to test himself and start branching out to create ideas of his own.

Ever since he has been on a journey of creating ideas with the goal of impacting the viewers to implement change in their own lives. He believes in the potential in every person to become the person they were born to be, and he believes that art can show a person a vision of who they can become as well.
